A drunk man was killed by French police near Paris on Sunday after threatening cops and shouting “Allahu akbar,” sources told AFP.
According to reports, a source told AFP that the man displayed a phoney gun. According to the source, he was “very drunk.”
According to one of the police sources, at around 6 a.m. (0500 GMT), an armed guy banged on a door in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, a suburb in the southeastern part of Paris.
The individual threatened the cops “by brandishing a firearm and shouting ‘Allahu akbar,’ a Muslim expression of faith that means “God is greatest,” according to the source.
A police officer then drew his pistol and shot the victim, who died despite the presence of rescue personnel.
According to another source, the officer fired his firearm three times, striking the individual once.
The entire encounter was filmed on the cop’s body camera.
According to police sources, the 30-year-old guy performed an “apology for terrorism” in 2019.
The case has been reported to the police’s IGPN internal affairs department, as is customary procedure.
The officer who shot the man tested negative for both drugs and alcohol.
According to the most recent IGPN data, 38 people died in France in 2022 as a result of cops intervention, 22 of whom were shot.
