Manchester United were left frustrated after a missed penalty from Bruno Fernandes proved costly, as Fulham battled back to earn a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage.

The visitors made a strong start, with Matheus Cunha narrowly missing the target from distance before striking the post following neat link-up play with Patrick Dorgu and Mason Mount.

Despite their dominance, United were denied by Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who pulled off key saves to keep Fernandes and Cunha at bay.

Their best chance of the first half came when Calvin Bassey fouled Mount inside the box. However, Fernandes squandered the opportunity to put his side ahead, firing his spot-kick high over the bar.

United eventually found the breakthrough after the interval. Bryan Mbeumo’s corner was flicked on by Rodrigo Muniz, allowing Leny Yoro to head the ball beyond the helpless Leno and give Ruben Amorim’s men a deserved lead.

In response, Fulham boss Marco Silva introduced Raul Jimenez and Emile Smith Rowe. The latter made an instant impact, converting Alex Iwobi’s cross with his first touch to level the match.

With both sides pushing for a winner, Harry Maguire went close with a late header, but neither team could find the decisive goal. The result leaves United’s manager under pressure, with only seven wins from his first 29 Premier League matches in charge.
