Ex-minister challenges Akpabio to personally address sexual harassment allegations

Former Minister of Environment, Mohammed Abdullahi, has urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to confront the sexual harassment allegations leveled against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and others, instead of relying on alleged “hired blackmailers and image launderers” to defend him.

Abdullahi made the call in response to the public campaign led by a certain Professor Mgbake, who has been vocal in attacking Senator Natasha’s credibility.

He accused Mgbake of disseminating falsehoods and engaging in a deliberate attempt to divert attention from the serious allegations confronting the Senate President.

Mohammed Abdullahi has been named Minister of Environment
Abdullahi urged Akpabio to stop relying on proxies to defend sexual harassment allegations levelled against him

“While Mgbake publicly denied any link to the Senate President, she contradicted herself by revealing Senator Akpabio’s private phone number during her media attacks,” Abdullahi said, stressing that the disclosure “strongly suggests coordination between her and Akpabio’s camp.”

He described Mgbake’s campaign as “a desperate media campaign” meant to shield Akpabio from accountability, warning Nigerians not to be swayed by “a circus of deception.”

Casting further doubt on Mgbake’s credibility, Abdullahi pointed to previous allegations of fraud and dishonesty linked to her. He cited online sources, including a thread on Nairaland branding her a con artist, as well as an investigative report by Secrets Reporter which accused her of scamming clients through front companies.

Abdullahi also alleged that Mgbake was recently involved in a smear campaign against Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, pointing to content shared on her Facebook page.

“It is both disgraceful and cowardly for a high-ranking public officer like the Senate President to associate with individuals of such questionable reputation,” he stated.

“Rather than defend himself with honour, Akpabio has chosen to hide behind people whose public records are smeared with controversy and criminal allegations.”

He further questioned the authenticity of Mgbake’s academic credentials, arguing that her claim to a professorship has not been independently verified.

“It is unfortunate that a matter as sensitive and serious as sexual harassment is being reduced to a media circus involving paid agents and individuals who themselves lack public trust,” Abdullahi added.

He concluded by emphasizing the need for transparency and integrity in addressing the allegations, calling on Akpabio to respond directly.

“This is about integrity and accountability. No Nigerian, no matter how highly placed, should be above scrutiny,” he said.

“The Senate President must rise to the occasion and prove his innocence through facts, not hired propaganda.”
