The death of veteran Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs has been described by Kate Henshaw as fake news.
The news of his demise, which was announced by several social media influencers on Sunday, sent Nigerians into mourning.
It was announced that the legendary actor, known for his exceptional talent and contributions to Nollywood, died in the early hours of Sunday, June 30, 2024, after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.
However, responding to the news of his demise, Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw, who is close to the Jacobs family, lamented the constant rumours over his death.
In a statement on her X page on Sunday, Henshew said, “How do you people put up RIP posts about someone who is still alive, year in and year out? It’s sickening.
“You do this to this great man and his family all the time. It is all shades of wrong.
“Stop, for goodness sake. Uncle Olu Jacobs is alive.”
Jacobs, who is battling dementia, studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.
He began his career in the United Kingdom, where he featured in various British television shows and films before returning to Nigeria in the late 1980s.
His return marked the beginning of a prolific career in Nollywood, where he quickly became a household name.
Jacobs, whose career spanned over five decades, is celebrated for his versatile roles in both television and film.
