The late Nollywood actor John Okafor, also known as Mr Ibu, will be laid to rest on Friday, June 28, in his birthplace of Amuri, Nkanu West Local Government Area, Enugu State.
On Friday, videos circulated on social media showing the arrival of his body as relatives, friends, and colleagues gathered to say their final goodbyes.
On Wednesday, he was honoured with a night of tribute in Enugu State, with fellow actors Charles Anwurum and Victor Osuagwu among those who paid their final respects.
Earlier this month, the Actors Guild of Nigeria staged a candlelight march to pay tribute to Mr Ibu and other departed actors.
The veteran actor succumbed to death after multiple health complications.
Mr Ibu passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, in a Lagos state hospital.
Mr. Ibu faced persistent issues with blood clotting, attributed to diseased blood vessels, and struggled with various health challenges over the years.
In October 2023, he publicly sought financial assistance to address his ailment, with initial plans to seek medical care abroad.
Unfortunately, the doctors deemed him unfit for international travel, abandoning the overseas treatment option.
As his health deteriorated, Okafor underwent the amputation of his leg in November 2023, marking a challenging phase in his battle against the debilitating condition. At the time of his passing, the veteran actor was 62 years old.
