Mabel Makun, the wife of famed Nigerian comedian AY, has stated that her silence on their recent breakup should not be misinterpreted and that she believes in a brighter future.
She also grieved that her dreams of a lifelong marriage had changed.
This was revealed in a post on her Instagram account on Wednesday, where she also expressed gratitude for the supportive words from family and friends.
Mabel argued that the father of her children, whom she had been with for years, deserved some respect despite their separation.
She wrote, “Many lies have been peddled against me and attacks orchestrated in the social media space, but I will honour my kids with my silence and not address any of these lies.
“Although my dreams of a lifelong marriage have taken a different direction now, I’m committed to moving forward with grace and resilience.
“I have faith in a brighter future for both myself and the children. Despite the rumours or opinions, I find comfort in the belief that all will be fine.
“While it is unexpected for things to end this way, I quietly ask for guidance from my faith as I step into this new chapter of life.
“Also, as we navigate this new change, I ask for your help in creating an atmosphere of respect and understanding. This is a challenging period, and I ask for privacy and consideration as we (my ex-husband and I) find our own path forward. I wish him the very best in this journey as well.”
On April 7, 2024, Ayo Makun, also known as AY, revealed the development in an Instagram post on Sunday.
He claimed he had reached a point where he could no longer entertain the audience with “deep personal family issues.”
AY Makun married Mabel in November 2008, and the couple has two children together.
