Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has disclosed the reason behind his verbal slur aimed at his colleague, Jim Iyke.
Earlier, Okeke, in a statement on his Instagram page, berated Iyke, calling him several unprintable names.
Describing him as ”a man without character,” Okeke mentions that his colleague is ”a small boy” who has a ”fake American accent.”
Okeke’s outburst left social media users bewildered over the possible reason for the love lost between the actors.
However, in another statement on his Instagram page on Monday, Okeke revealed the reason behind his outburst, alleging he sustained injuries while on set for a movie being produced by Iyke.
Alluding to the death of Junior Pope, who drowned while on set, Okeke mentions that avoidable accidents on Nollywood sets are becoming too frequent.
He mentioned that it took him three months to heal after he got two stitches while on set for an Iyke production.
His statement reads, ”For the benefit of clarity, for the benefit of my new employers,
”My supporters, and the new year coming—Jnr Pope, is one death too many in this business. And that only happened this year, 2024.
”Had I gotten anything more than these 2 stitches on the set of Jim Iyke’s production, y’all would still call me a fool, I guess. It’s taken 3 whole months to heal from that, and still I am committed to ensuring safety at the Nollywood workplace.
”Sometimes I’ve asked myself, why was it me who got hurt? I guess it’s so that nobody else gets to take one for the team. But Jim Ivke is running.
