Afrobeat singer and grammy nominee David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has announced a 300 million naira donation to orphanage homes across Nigeria.
The donation signifies an increase of 50 million naira from the singer’s November 2021 gift of 250 million naira to orphanage homes in commemoration of his 29th birthday.
In a post on his verified X, formerly Twitter, handle on Tuesday, the afrobeat singer stated that the details of the disbursement will be made known to the public on Wednesday.
“I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria… as my yearly contribution to the nation… details of disbursement tomorrow,” the unavailable crooner said.
Meanwhile, Nigerians on the social media platform have commended the singer’s act of generosity.
Reacting to the post, former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad said, “God bless you, David.”
“Omo, nobody does good; reach Davido for this life; 001, OBO, Agbatagbiti, Best in the World; nobody is coming close,” popular skit maker and comedian O.G.B. recently posted.
Another X user, Abazz (@abazwhyllzz), stated, “Davido has been giving to the orphanage a long time ago; it didn’t start today. God bless him abundantly.”
“Davido just donated N300 million to the orphanage home in Nigeria amidst the current hardship in the country. Davido spreads love more than most Nigerian pastors who fly private jet upadan, collecting tithes and offerings from their members. They will say Davido is a worldly person, but he’s doing the Lord’s work.” X user JUST KINGS (@JustKingss) posted
“I wish Davido could be the President of Nigeria,” X user and Chief Priest (@RealChiefPriest) heaped praise on the singer.
Known for acts of benevolence and generosity, the singer donated N237 million in July 2023 to over 400 orphanages in Nigeria.
