    Over 12 persons are believed to have on Saturday evening in a fatal accident at a roadside market in Iworoko Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, Ekiti.

    According to eyewitnesses, the truck coming from Ifaki Ekiti lost control and crashed into the roadside market at about 8:00 pm.

    “Ten bodies had been recovered from the scene,” an eyewitness said claiming that casualty figures could rise.

    Efforts to rescue others trapped under the truck were ongoing by sympathisers and traffic officials.

    According to Punch newspaper, sources added that a car with passengers was crushed by the truck.

    According to Captain Awesome on Twitter, over 20 persons were killed in the crash.

    “More than 20 people gone this night in my village. Called my Dad earlier he say they are safe but he can’t say the same for Mummy Idayat and some other folks. This is heart wrenching.” he tweeted.

    “A trailer crashed into Iworoko market in Ekiti state this evening killing scores of people. The places affected in Iworoko are the barbing salon behind the market women, the newly constructed shops at the market up to the pharmacy shop inside the market,” @SheunDam claimed on Twitter.
