A lecturer at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Onaolapo Qadri, has vowed never to give grades that will help students graduate with a first-class degree.
In a statement on X, Qadri, a department of psychology lecturer at the institution, stated that he has “personal reservations” about giving first-class degrees to students.
He added that even in cases where the student(s) deserve a first-class degree, he will not award them such grades.
The UNILAG lecturer mentioned that he has never and will not be granting good grades to anyone to get a first-class result.
“Well, as a lecturer, I find it hard to award grades that can lead to the award of first-class results to my students, not because do not necessarily deserve it, but of course, my mood just can’t, and I have personal reservations about first-class,” Qadri stated.
