The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Lagos chapter will hold a rally today, Tuesday, in solidarity with five dismissed lecturers of the Lagos State University, Ojo.
A letter of invitation made available to the press on Monday said they were illegally dismissed by LASU.
The letter reads, “This is to respectfully invite you to the National Day of Solidarity Rally in support of five of our members illegally dismissed from service by the inept, inglorious, and vindictive administration at the Lagos State University, Ojo.”
The rally is scheduled to commence by 10 a.m.
It was gathered that in 2019, the university’s management dismissed several ASUU members, including Isaac Oyewumi, the union’s chairman; Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu, vice chairman; Dr. Tony Dansu, secretary; Adeolu Oluwaseyi Oyekan, assistant secretary; and Oluwakemi Aboderin-Shonibare, treasurer.
LASU asserted that accusations of unauthorised removal, retention, distribution, or publication of official confidential documents led to the dismissal of the lecturers.
However, reports revealed that the affected lecturers had refuted the allegations.
