A policeman in Lagos has had a brush with death this morning as a driver rammed him off a bridge in a bid to evade arrest.

In a viral video that surfaced online today, a driver of a Toyota SUV was seen to have rammed the policeman off a bridge, while trying to evade arrest. The policeman was lucky to be alive but was seriously injured and has been hospitalised.

According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on New Media, Jubril Gawat, the police officer broke an arm and is in critical condition.

Mr Gawat faulted those who supported the driver, stating that road user committed multiple offences.

He tweeted, “The officer is not dead. He broke an arm and in critical condition.

    INVESTIGATION Ongoing:

    – Driver in Police Custody, to be charged to court this afternoon

    – Vehicle in LASTMA custody

    – Police officer that fell; with broken arm, critical condition #DriveSafe#StaySafe

“I will personally investigate this and the driver must face the Law FULLY for committing MULTIPLE Offences.”

Reacting to the incident, Wale Adetona @iSlimfit said, “The driver was completely at fault. Let’s not make excuses for him. I know the LASTMA guys can be so unruly too but the driver shouldn’t have resisted arrest.”

That video, the driver was completely at fault. Let’s not make excuse for him. I know the LASTMA guys can be so unruly too but driver shouldn’t have resisted arrest. Now I heard the Police man is dead. Big trouble for the driver. His life just changed for worse.
