Bayo Oluyomi, 45, a driver was charged with manslaughter in an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Oluyomi, a driver who lives at 48 Dipo Akindele Street in Otta, Ogun, is charged with manslaughter on a single count.
According to the prosecution, Inspector Rapheal Donny, the defendant committed the crime on March 6 near the Oshodi Motorway in Lagos.
Donny claimed that the defendant drove recklessly and hit a pedestrian, Miss Tolulope Ogunkorede, who died on the scene.
He said that the infraction violated Section 52 of the Lagos State Road Traffic Laws of 2018.
The defendant entered a not guilty plea to the charge.
Mrs. O. A. Odubayo, the Magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in the same amount.
Odubayo postponed the matter until April 26 for further consideration.
