Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, has dismissed circulating social media reports about her making statements linking her to the transfer of billions of dollars to Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, calling them “false, malicious, and a calculated attempt to smear her name.”

In a statement released by her family, legal team, and the Bayelsa Youth Association, the ex-minister stated that she never uttered the words being attributed to her and has no financial ties to the governor.

“This is not the first time that false narratives have been planted in the media to distort facts and damage her reputation,” the statement said, noting that Mrs. Alison-Madueke remains determined to clear her name through lawful means.

The group also urged the media and the general public to fact-check news before sharing it, as well as authorities to investigate individuals responsible for what it called a “campaign of falsehood.”

Diezani reaffirmed her position, stating that she prefers to address issues through due procedure rather than in the “court of public opinion.”
