With the release of his new album “Timeless,” Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, alias Davido, broke an African record on the US iTunes Albums Chart.

This is because the album peaked at the top of the charts on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, becoming the first African album to do so in the largest music market in the world.

Remember that on March 31, 2023, Nigerian artists Asake, Fave, The Cavemen, DMW’s newest additions Morravey and Logos Olori, Grammy Award-winning Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo, British rapper Skepta, South African music producer/DJ Musa Keys, Jamaican dancehall/reggae singer Dexta Daps, and South African rapper Focalistic made guest appearances on Davido’s fourth studio album, “Timeless.”

Despite an initial partial leak, Davido’s ‘Timeless’ album broke several records, including the highest charting album by an African artist on the US Apple Music (peaked at Number 2) and the biggest album first-day streams in the history of Audiomack.

The 17-track album also became the first and only afrobeats album to debut all tracks in the top 100 of the United Kingdom Apple Music top songs chart.

Following the release of the album, global streaming giant, Spotify, said Davido’s music is most streamed in the United Kingdom, Canada, France and Nigeria.
