Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly called Davido, has congratulated South African musician Tyla on her win at the 66th Grammy Awards.

Davido, who was nominated in the Best African Music Performance Grammy award category, lost the award to the South African songstress, who carted home the prestigous prize courtesy of her hit song ‘Water’.

However, in a post on his verified Instagram account, the Nigerian singer congratulated Tyla on her win, saying, “Congratulations on your win, @Tylaaaaaaa! Big one for Africa! Keep soaring!”

Speaking at the 66th Grammy Awards, the “unavailable” crooner noted that his loss at the prestigious awards has left him teary-eyed.

In an Instagram post late Sunday, Davido wrote, “Water fills my eyes, but I’ll be alright.”

The Nigerian superstar was nominated in three categories: best global music album, best global music performance, and best African music performance.

However, he lost all three categories: Shakti, Bela Fleck, and Tyla.
