The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday adjourned the terrorism trial of the former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz, till March 10, 2026.
The Federation’s Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, requested the extension in order to give the prosecution additional time to thoroughly review the case file.
Oyedepo told the court that he needed time to become acquainted with the facts because the case was just moved from the Department of State Services to the Department of Public Prosecutions.
Mr. Adedayo Adedeji, the defendants‘ attorney, did not object to the request for a adjournment.
However, citing a lack of diligent prosecution, he urged the court to dismiss the case if the prosecution does not start the trial on the next postponed date.
After considering the application, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered the prosecution to begin its case against Malami and his son case on March 10 and adjourned the trial until that date.
