JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede told YOWICAN that there was no compulsion of Arabic studies during the police recruitment examinations

Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN, visited the office of Joint Admission Matriculation Board, JAMB, following controversy over the compulsion of Arabic studies.

In a statement signed by Engr Daniel Kadzai, national president, YOWICAN the team visited JAMB on a fact finding mission.

“Our team visited the JAMB registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede at the JAMB Headquarters office in Bwari, Abuja on fact finding mission over the controversial Police Recruitment Examinations exercise set by JAMB.

He explained that Prof Ishaq warmly welcomed the team led By Prof Adisa, Professor of Surgery and Surgical Oncologist, Abia State University Teaching Hospital, himself – Engr Daniel Kadzai, National President, Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria – and two others.

“In his response Prof Ishaq expressed serious concerns over misrepresentation of the whole scenario causing a lot unnecessary tension.

He noted that, “Prof was visibly disturbed and he lamented how some mischievous elements are hyping the falsehood.

According to Kadzai, Oloyede explained that no candidate was instructed to answer Arabic studies, as it was not included in the exam but used as dummy.

“The exam questions was set incidentally by Christians staff and supervised by a Director who’s a Deacon in one of the largest Pentecostal Church.

“The director who was among the six JAMB staff in the meeting affirmed that Arabic came in due to the alphabetical order picking other subjects used as dummy.

“The staff in charge of ICT who designed the software is also a Christian. Records shows JAMB has 156 centres across Nigeria and of the 156 JAMB supervisors, 119 are Christians.

“So what are we talking about when our fellow Christians are principal actors,” Oloyede quizzed.
