Chimamanda Adichie, the award-winning author, will be headlining the inaugural edition of ‘Things Fall Apart’ Festival.

Organised by Ncheta Ndigbo, the Enugu-based centre for memories, the festival aimed to expand the annual ‘Things Fall Apart’ Day in its fifth year.

The weeklong event honours Chinua Achebe’s literary legacy and marks 67 years since the publication of his iconic novel.

This year’s event, slated for June 29 to July 5 at the Centre for Memories in Enugu, is themed “Masculine, Feminine, Human: The Dialogue of Complements in Things Fall Apart”.

In an Instagram post, the organisers expressed their excitement in having her as a speaker while describing her as “one of the most powerful literary voices of our time”.

They added that she will reflect on storytelling, cultural identity, and the legacy of Chinua Achebe, “her greatest inspirations”.

“It’s Official! Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is Headlining the Things Fall Apart Festival 2025,” the post reads.

“We are screaming with excitement because the iconic Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – globally celebrated novelist, feminist, and one of the most powerful literary voices of our time is coming home to headline the Things Fall Apart Festival 2025.

“Adichie, fresh from her worldwide tour for her new book “Dream Count,” joins us to honour one of her greatest inspirations, the legendary Chinua Achebe, the pre-eminent storyteller whose words redefined African literature and consciousness.

“Adichie will reflect on storytelling, cultural rootedness, and the timeless dialogue between history and identity. Her presence marks a powerful moment in our collective exploration of the festival’s theme.”

The organisers described the festival as a “celebration and movement”.

“This is more than a festival, it’s a homecoming, a celebration, a movement. Achebe lives. Our stories rise. And YOU need to be part of it,” they added.

The festival will feature a range of side attractions, including art exhibitions, traditional performances, film screenings, and an essay competition.
