Chelsea has been fined £10.75 million ($14.27 million) and given a suspended one-year transfer ban for previous violations of Premier League rules.
The London club will also face an immediate nine-month academy transfer embargo, according to the Premier League.
The fines are based on information given to the league by the consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly following their acquisition of Chelsea from Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich in 2022.
The Premier League’s report listed a number of deals involving unregistered payments, including Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto’o, Willian, Ramires, David Luiz, André Schürrle, and Nemanja Matić.
The club accepted historical charges that occurred during Roman Abramovich’s ownership.
The English soccer league reported that “undisclosed payments by third parties associated with the club were made to players, unregistered agents, and other third parties” on behalf of “benefit or Chelsea.”
Chelsea self-reported the potential breaches after Todd Boehly’s consortium bought the club in 2022.
The club said, “From the outset of this process, the club has treated these matters with the utmost seriousness, providing full cooperation to all relevant regulators.”
