A N20 million defamation lawsuit against Nigerian chef Damilola Adeparusi, popularly known as Chef Dammy, has been filed by Prophet Adegoke Jeremiah, nicknamed the Billion Dollar Prophet.

Chronicle NG reports that chef Dammy stated that her life was in danger and that her pastor (Prophet Jeremiah) should be held responsible if anything bad happened to her.

Prophet Jeremiah filed a defamation suit in reaction to Chef Dammy‘s statement on her Instagram page.

The Prophet requested a retraction of the defamatory remark on social media and in two widely read national publications, as well as N20 million in damages, in a letter dated October 23, 2023, and signed by his lawyers, Bisayo Sule & Co. Legal Practitioners.

The letter partly read, “In view of the incalculable damage you have done to the good reputation of our client, we demand a retraction of the libellous statement on all social media, particularly your Instagram page, and two (2) widely read national dailies.

“Additionally, we are demanding a sum of twenty million naira only.

“N20,000,000.00 is damages for the act of defamation against our client.

“Take notice that you have seven (7) days from the date of service of this letter to you, inclusive, to comply with our demand.

“Failure of which we shall not hesitate to seek redress in the court of law.”
