The Nigerian female football team, the Super Falcons, has won the 2023 Confederation of African Football (CAF) award for the National Team of the Year.

The year’s CAF award came off the back of an impressive showing at the Women’s World Cup earlier in the year.

They drew Olympic champions Canada and shock co-hosts Australia and settled for a point against the Republic of Ireland.

The Nigerian team did not lose a match in their three group games before losing to England.

England knocked the Super Falcons out of the competition in the round of 16 after defeating them in penalty shootouts.
