A tragedy was averted at the Murtala Muhammad Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday morning when a Dana Air plane crash-landed.
The incident reportedly happened around 10:14 a.m., with emergency responders, including the airport’s Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Services (ARRFS), mobilized to the scene.
However, the Dana passengers were safely evacuated via the emergency escape gate while the aircraft was trapped in the grass near the runway as of press time.
As of the time of filing this report, it is unclear what caused the runway incursion; however, officials from the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) have been dispatched to the area.
A source at the NSIB assured our correspondent that the bureau would publish a formal statement soon.
