Ten bandits were killed in the Yankari Forest and 39 hostages were freed from the kidnappers den following a successful combined security operation tagged Operation Sharan Daji.
This was revealed in a statement released on Saturday by Ahmed Wakili, the police public relations officer for the Bauchi State Command.
According to Wakili, a preliminary investigation showed that on Thursday, roughly 24 kidnappers broke into the Gaji community.
According to reports, the attackers abducted a group of businesspeople who were leaving the Mararaban Liman Katagum Market and took them to a location known as the Red Mountain in the Yankari Forest.
Chronicle NG gathered that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N50 million to free their victims before the Friday rescue operation.
