Residents of the Faruruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State are gripped with fear following a late-night attack by motorcycle-riding bandits.

During the incident, five nursing mothers were abducted, while about 50 cows and other livestock were stolen.

The Chairman of the Faruruwa community, Yahya Bagobiri, disclosed this to journalists in Kano, expressing deep concern over the persistent violence despite the presence of heavily armed military and other security operatives in the area.

According to Bagobiri, the attackers stormed Yan Kwada village around 9 p.m., raiding several homes and abducting the women, reportedly leaving their babies behind.

“Among the five nursing mothers kidnapped, one has managed to escape, but four remain in captivity,” he said.

He lamented that the security presence had failed to deter the attackers, who continue to raid the community almost daily.

“Even before Sunday’s attack, we received intelligence that the bandits were coming and alerted the security operatives, but nothing was done until they arrived,” Bagobiri recounted.

The latest incident has forced many residents to flee the community for fear of further violence.

Efforts to reach the state police command for comments were unsuccessful. However, a source who preferred anonymity said that, as of the time of filing this report, no official communication had been received regarding the incident.
