Bandits have killed a policeman and have abducted 15 people including the wife of a monarch in the Northwest state of Zamfara, northern Nigeria.
The unnamed policeman of the Maru Police Division was killed following an attack on the Ruwan Doruwa community in Maru Local Government Area.
According to local reports, the attack occurred around 12:30 am on Monday.
The armed gunmen reportedly opened fire indiscriminately after storming the community. They shot and killed the policeman in front of the district head’s residence while he was attempting to defend the house.
After a failed attempt to kidnap the district head, his wife and 14 others were abducted.
Reports from Maru LGA are that the gunmen are yet to contact the Ruwan Doruwa community or make ransom demands.
