The pastor in charge of the second Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Damakasuwa, in the Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Amako Maraya, has reportedly been killed by bandits.

According to reports, the bandits also kidnapped the clergyman’s wife.

Mr. Ishaku Chinge, a resident and church elder who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Saturday, claimed the bandits stormed the neighborhood at 11 p.m. on Friday.

He related how, approximately three months ago, gunmen attempted to kidnap the clergy’s son but were repulsed with the support of the community, despite the fact that he (the son) was injured.

“Yesterday again, they stormed his house, gunned him down, and kidnapped his wife.

“The gunmen had earlier called in the morning, demanding N3 million in ransom from the family. They have not called again,” Chinge stated.

Since the incident, he claims, there has been friction in the neighborhood.

He added, “We are calling on security agencies and the government to help rescue the widow, who is traumatized at the moment.”

As of the time of reporting this story, the acting Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, has not responded to a text message sent to him.
