Alhaji Amadu Surajo, the Katsina State Acting Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, was killed by suspected bandits on Saturday in Mai Rana village, Kusada Local Government Area of the state.
In a phone interview with our correspondent on Sunday, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the Public Relations Officer for the Katsina State Police Command, confirmed Surajo’s death.
“The DPO informed me that the incident happened last night,” the PPRO said.
Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the killing to our correspondent over the phone.
“Yes, he was killed yesterday by the bandits,” Mu’azu said.
The terrorists also killed three people and injured several more.
The hoodlums attacked the village late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
The bandits also kidnapped the deceased’s two wives, along with one of his daughters, who is an undergraduate in one of the public universities in the country.
However, a person familiar with the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity said Surajo’s first wife was later released by the hoodlums.
Before his death, Surajo was the state secretary of MACBAN, who was then moved to acting chairman of MACBAN Katsina State.
Munnir Lamido, the National Vice President of MACBAN, who also served as the state’s Chairman, disappeared mysteriously in June 2024, giving rise to the deceased’s current portfolio.
