The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Kaduna Zonal Directorate stated that seven fraudsters were convicted before Justices R.M. Aikawa and Hauwa’u Buhari of the Federal High Court in Kaduna, as well as Justice A. A passenger plane departing from Sydney, Australia, experienced engine failure on Friday, causing the aeroplane to circle before making a safe emergency landing, Qantas stated on X. According to a statement from Sydney Airport, a grass fire broke out on one side of the runway at the same time. It is unknown if the two instances were related. The fire has since been extinguished; however, some aircraft delays are expected. Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, has ordered the prompt replacement of outdated equipment as part of the measures to stop the national grid’s constant breakdown.  Adelabu stated that the replacement would be completed in six months. A vigilante group member from Rivers State’s Obele community was shot and killed by suspected cultists. The victim was a member of the ONELGA Security Peace and Advisory Committee, also known as OSPAC. The cultists also razed the house of a councillor in the area and injured four others during the shooting on Wednesday night. The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared a three-day mourning period in the state, beginning on Thursday, in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja.
