Bus crash kills 20 schoolchildren in Uganda

The Oyo State Government promised to prosecute a reckless driver responsible for the death of an officer of the State Traffic Management Authority, Kehinde Fabunmi, at Agbowo in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of the state.  Fabunmi, a level four officer of the OYRTMA, was killed on Saturday by a driver of a black 4MATIC Benz with number plate LSD 862 JS, who reportedly disobeyed traffic lights and was apprehended by officers. Russian general killed in Moscow explosion

A high-ranking general in the Russian armed forces and his assistant were murdered in an explosion in Moscow.  Lt Gen Igor Kirillov, the director of the Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defence Forces (NBC), was leaving a residential block early Tuesday when a device placed in a scooter exploded, according to Russia’s Investigative Committee. The explosive was detonated remotely, according to Russian security sources who spoke with state news agency Tass. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 193 foreign nationals in a busted operation against a cybercrime and cryptocurrency fraud syndicate in Lagos. Ola Olukoyede, the executive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes agency, announced on Monday that the agency had detained 792 individuals in a landmark operation for their involvement in cryptocurrency investment fraud and romance scams. The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre has apprehended a mother and her daughter over their alleged involvement in a romance scam that reportedly defrauded a Malta-based victim of more than N18m.

The Zone-2 Police Command in Lagos has nabbed two suspected international fraudsters accused of fabricating foreign certificates in Lagos State and Ghana.  In a brave action that demonstrated their integrity, the police officers declined a bribe offer of N66 million from the accused. AIG Adegoke Fayoade, who leads the Zone-2 Command, confirmed the arrest on Monday. “These suspects, identified as Elvis, 23, and Kelly, 24, specialised in forging certificates from foreign institutions and African universities, deceiving unsuspecting victims online,” Fayoade disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria.
