NANS expressed disappointment that months after the Federal Government approved the raise from N33,000 to N77,000 (from July 2024), the NYSC has neglected to implement the payment. The All Progressives Congress (APC) Kebbi State chapter has suspended Kabir Sani-Giant, Special Adviser to Gov. Nasir Idris on Power and Politics, with immediate effect. The party’s state secretary, Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad-Kimba, issued a statement announcing the suspension in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday. He stated that on February 8, 2025, Sani-Giant brought a snake to Government House, intimidating dignitaries, statesmen, and officials. Muhammad-Kimba stated that the conduct could embarrass and discredit the APC and violated the party’s constitution. “His suspension remains in place pending further investigation and possible disciplinary action, which could lead to expulsion if repeated,” Muhammad-Kimba said.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has issued an ultimatum to the governments of Bauchi, Katsina, Kano, and Kebbi states, requesting the reversal of their decrees mandating a five-week closure of schools for the Ramadan fast. CAN denounced the decision as discriminatory and a breach of the rights of non-Muslim students, saying that it would take legal action if the instructions were not overturned. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Sunday directed its members to be on alert for mass action if the Federal Government implements the telecommunication services charge contrary to the terms agreed by the 10-man committee.
