No fewer than 12 shops were razed by fire on Thursday night in Ibadan, Oyo State. Dr Ibrahim Jalingo, an Islamic cleric and the National Chairman of the Council of Ulama, has supported the death penalty for religious believers who reject Islam. The death toll from a roof collapse at a busy nightclub in the Dominican Republic has risen to 218, according to the head of rescue operations on Thursday. Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Thursday, picketed the office building of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development in Abuja.
