Commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as okada riders, have been prohibited by the Osun State Police Command from wearing facemasks and hoods. The Command also warned residents not to board motorcycles with hooded riders. This was announced on Monday by Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer. She stated that some motorcycle riders use hoods to conceal their identity by covering their noses with facemasks in order to perpetuate crimes including robbery and rape. Nine people, including four soldiers, were reported dead on Sunday evening when a civilian plane crashed in Sudan due to “technical” reasons, the army said, as the war in the east African country entered its 100th day. On Sunday, unidentified gunmen shot two yet to be identified police officers from Delta State’s Dragon Patrol Team at their checkpoint along the Ughelli-Asaba Road near the Oleh roundabout. A tanker explosion has reportedly burned to death a pregnant woman, three children, and 16 others at Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
