The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has planned a new meeting to discuss the coup in the Niger Republic now that the military junta’s initial deadline has passed. Recall that ECOWAS had met in Abuja in August, where a 7-day deadline was issued for the Niger junta to reinstate ousted President Mohamed Bazoum or risk sanctions, including possible military intervention. The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has alerted Nigerians to fraudsters posing as the parastatal with fake contracts and a forged website to take advantage of unsuspecting individuals. In a statement on Sunday, the commission’s Director, Corporate Affairs, Ibitoye Abosede, said a new scam circulating online is “another communication between fraudsters and a US-based company purporting to indicate that a ‘Contract Award Committee’ within the Commission is processing tenders for jobs”. Men of the Nigeria Police Force, Kano state command on Sunday arrested a female drug lord, Ladi Peter and members of her cartel.
