A Lagos State High Court in Ikeja condemned a domestic worker, Joseph Ogbu, to death by hanging on Monday for the murder of his employer, an 89-year-old grandmother, Adejoke John, and her daughter, Oreoluwa, at their house in the Surulere region of the state. Micah Gochin, a retired customs officer, was assassinated by gunmen in Plateau State, and his son was taken hostage. On Monday, an Ikeja Special Offences Court convicted Blessing Adanu of defrauding a woman of N47.6 million under the guise of supplying her agricultural produce. Adanu used the alias Emerald Multipurpose Cooperative Society to defraud her victim in an ostensibly agribusiness scheme. Adanu was convicted on two counts of obtaining money by false pretences and stealing by Justice Mojisola Dada.
