As part of a coordinated effort to ease the circulation of banknotes of various denominations, the Central Bank of Nigeria has directed all commercial banks to open on Saturdays and Sundays. The central bank also confirmed that banknotes from its vaults had been evacuated to commercial banks across the country. On Friday, the Court of Appeal in Abuja overturned the tribunal decision that invalidated Ademola Adeleke’s election as governor of Osun State. In a unanimous decision, a three-member panel of justices led by Justice Mohammed Lawal held that Adeleke’s appeal to challenge his dismissal by the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal was meritorious. The court also ruled that the All Progressive Congress, APC, and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, must pay N500,000 in costs. Following a fatal crash, 25 people were killed in Udubo along the Hadeja-Potiskum road in Bauchi State’s Gamawa Local Government Area. The lone crash involving a Toyota Hummer Bus injured ten others to varying degrees. The accident happened at 4.30 p.m. on Thursday. Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, former Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), will be charged with seven counts of money laundering in a Federal High Court in Abuja. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  suspended former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, former Senate President Pius Anyim, Prof Dennis Ityavyar, and Aslam Aliyu on Thursday. Promise Thompson was sentenced to death by hanging by a Port Harcourt High Court for armed robbery and child theft. Thompson and his accomplice, Beatrice Ogbunka, were charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, and child theft. They were accused of murdering Chidiebere Ogbugu and kidnapping his five-year-old son.
