The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has filed charges against a former commissioner of finance under the administration of Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Bashir Saidu, over alleged financial misappropriation and money laundering. The embattled former commissioner was arrested some weeks ago by the Kaduna State Police command over allegations of diversion of public funds, and was later remanded at the correctional centre in the Kaduna State capital. Facebook and Instagram owner Meta, said it’s scrapping its third-party fact-checking program and replacing it with Community Notes written by users similar to the model used by Elon Musk’s social media platform X. Starting in the US, Meta will end its fact-checking program with independent third parties. Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) Plc has raised N209 billion out of its recent N400.5 billion public offer. GTCO had launched a public offer of 9.0 billion ordinary shares of 50 kobo each at N44.5 per share. GTCO, in a statement sent to Chronicle NG, announced receipt of regulatory approval for a total of N209.41 billion, representing 52.3 per cent of the total offer size.
