Nigeria airlines on Friday notified the government and general public of plans to halt all services starting Monday, May 9, over increasing cost of aviation fuel that now sells at N700 per litre. The airlines, under the aegis of Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), in a memo, apologised for the consequences the shutdown will have on travellers who have already booked flights. The Federal Government says it will resume its negotiations with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) next week, with a view to ending the prolonged closure of Nigerian public universities.
