Nineteen persons were killed and eight others injured in a Sunday auto crash at Yangoji-Gwagwalada Road in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. Dauda Biu, acting Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), confirmed the figures to NAN when he visited the accident scene. Biu said the auto crash which occurred minutes into Sunday involved three vehicles – two Toyota Hiace buses with registration numbers MUB- 30 LG and DWR-985 XJ and an articulated vehicle. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has secured the conviction of a physically challenged man, Ehiarimwian Osarobo Emmanuel, and Olagunju Abass Ayodeji were arrested for smuggling tramadol, a prohibited drug. The convicted smugglers were sentenced to five and three years imprisonment respectively, by a Lagos Federal High Court on Friday, after they both pled guilty to a count charge each made against them by the anti-narcotic agency. Twenty-four Nigerians have filed a lawsuit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for “failing to give them and other seven million Nigerians adequate time and opportunity to complete their voter registration after they have carried out their registration online.” The Plaintiffs who are suing for themselves and on behalf of seven million other Nigerians want to “complete the registration process, so that they can obtain their permanent voter cards (PVCs), and exercise their right to vote.” INEC recently disclosed that out of 10,487,972 Nigerians who carried out their pre-registration online, only 3,444,378 completed the process at a physical centre.…
