The consumption of alcohol in Canada have crashed, according to a new report that showed beer and wine sales at historic lows. From 2021-22, volume of beer sold per person in Canada slumped drastically. The volume in wine sales slid by its largest margin since 1949. Stricter drinking guidelines and a new alcohol tax on the horizon send signals that further change is brewing. Despite the trend, beer remains the country’s go-to inebriant. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Mrs. Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party (LP) as the winner of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senate seat. The Anti Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS) of the Police Command in Cross River has arrested a notorious kidnap kingpin, three years after he was declared wanted. The SP Ogini Chukwuma led ACKS, acting through intelligence, had stormed the hideout of the kingpin, Kufre Etim, also called Romance, where he allegedly opened fire on sighting the team.
