Abdulazeez Fashola, alias Naira Marley, and Lagos socialite Samson Eletu, aka Sam Larry, have launched a fundamental rights complaint to challenge their continuing incarceration in relation to the murder of Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad, a 27-year-old singer. The police and Lagos magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, who ordered their remand in police custody for 21 days, were joined as defendants in the complaint filed before the Federal High Court in Lagos. Armed men identified to be members of the Boko Haram terrorist group on Monday attacked Beneshiekh town, the seat of Borno State’s Kaga Local Government Area, and assassinated the Chief Imam, Sheihk Baba Goni Muktar Malumti. They also set fire to several of the deceased’s Islamic texts. The dead was a well-known Islamic scholar and the Chief Imam of Beneshiekh’s Juma’at Mosque. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Israel would not agree to a cessation of hostilities with Hamas in the Gaza Strip and would press ahead with its plans to wipe out the group. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a N2.1 trillion supplementary budget for 2023. Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, stated after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday in Abuja that the budget is to fund pressing concerns. He claims that funds would be made available to preserve prior gains in national security and agriculture. The budget will also cover four months of salary increases for federal employees as well as student loan funding.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Monday, approved the dissolution of statutory commissions in the state with immediate effect. Members of the statutory commissions have remained in office since Adeleke took over the mantle of leadership of the state on November 27, 2022, as they have fixed tenure of office. The Federal Government through the Federal Executive Council have approved the sum of N5.9 billion on Monday for the development of access roads for the Abuja light rail system. The Nigerian Air Force says the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai on Sunday, eliminated 22 terrorists in air strikes at their identified terrorists’ hideouts and enclaves in Borno. Five people were slain by suspected armed herdsmen in Benue State’s Gwer West Local Government Area.
