Nigeria, the United States, Britain and 17 other countries on Sunday signed the first detailed international agreement on how to keep artificial intelligence safe from rogue actors, a senior US said as the push for companies to create AI systems that are “secure by design” intensifies. The UK’s first human case of swine flu strain H1N2, very similar to what has been circulating in pigs, has been detected, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said on Monday. Routine surveillance in general practitioner (GP) surgeries picked up the case after the person suffered a mild illness. The UKHSA said it is now carrying out contact tracing to prevent further spread of the virus. At this stage, it is unknown how transmissible the strain is or if there could be other cases in the UK. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State says it has resolved to challenge the Appeal Court’s ruling, affirming Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the winner of the March 18 governorship election. Nigeria on Monday revised its 2024 budget upwards by 1.5 trillion naira to 27.5 trillion naira ($32.76 billion), the Minister of Budget and National Planning Atiku Bagudu said. The most populous Black nation also increased the oil price benchmark and lowered the naira exchange rate assumption. The Police in Lagos state have 32-year-old former sales representative, Bashiru Olatunji, was on Monday dragged before a magistrates’ court in Ikeja, for alleged theft. The defendant is standing trial before Magistrate E. Kubeinje on a one-count charge of stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
