Court jails cleric for life over sexual assault of minor

A High Court sitting at Asaba, the Delta State capital, has sentenced one Onuwa Ijie to death, and Nwanozie Uzor to 14 years imprisonment for murder and conspiracy to commit the murder of twin boys, Chidalu and Chigozie Agwunobi. The court presided over by Justice Onome Marshal-Umukoro sentenced two convicts over the murder of the seven-year-old boys. The prosecution conducted by a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Justice, Mrs Paula Akpoguma, in proof of the case called five witnesses. Gunmen kill 18 in fresh Plateau attacks

Fear gripped the residents of Ibaka in Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, as gunmen kidnapped eight people, including a Naval Rating, from the community. The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre has apprehended a mother and her daughter over their alleged involvement in a romance scam that reportedly defrauded a Malta-based victim of more than N18m.

The Police on Tuesday arraigned a 53-year-old security guard, Nosifa Amodu, in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, over alleged theft of car battery and headlamps. Amodu, whose address was not provided, is being tried for negligence and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Insp Femi Omilana, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences on Wednesday at Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
