Ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, who participated in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, at the weekend cried out over the delay in the payment of their stipends. While threatening to protest over the development, some of the 17,000 ad-hoc staff lamented that weeks after the election, they were yet to receive any payment. A trigger-happy policeman has reportedly gunned down a 17-year-old boy, Emeka Odogwu, in Ozoro community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State. The gory incident was said to have occurred on Saturday night when policemen stormed the area after having found knockouts (fireworks) in the victim’s possession. Efforts by the security operatives to arrest the boy were resisted and while he attempted to escape, one of the policemen reportedly opened fire and killed him. The Nigerian Police have filed fresh cybercrime charges against detained human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi. The additional 12 count charge was filed on Friday, December 6, 2024, before a Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti.
