The Lagos State Government on Friday discharged 42 coronavirus patients including 10 foreign nationals from its isolation centres across the state. Providing updates, Incident Commander, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu urged residents of the state to adhere strictly to all public advisories given by government. “Today, 42 COVID-19 patients in Lagos; 17 females and 25 males including 10 foreign nationals were discharged from our Isolation facilities to reunite with the society. The immediate past acting Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Joy Nuniel, told on Friday of how pressure was mounted on her to give out Christmas palliatives last year to the tune of N10 billion. The Lagos State Government has confirmed that the palliative works on the alternative routes highlighted for traffic management during the proposed Third Mainland Bridge rehabilitation, are rounding up in readiness for the partial closure scheduled to commence Friday, 24th July, 2020. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 600 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Friday. The 600 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 35454. The NCDC also announced the discharge of 341 patients from isolation centers across the country with three new deaths reported. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday presented the 10th prosecution witness against Ismaila Mustapha alias Mompha, before Justice A.M Liman of the Federal High Court sitting Ikoyi, Lagos. The Lagos Zonal Office of the Commission is prosecuting Mompha alongside his company, Ismalob Global Investment Limited on an amended 22-count charge, bordering on cyber fraud and money laundering to the tune of N33 billion (Thirty Three Billion Naira). Justice Emeka Nwite of Federal High Court, Warri, Delta State, on Wednesday sentenced Ochuko Okikifo (a.k.a Claire Grorgr) and King Thankgod (a.k.a Frank Lawson) to three years jail term each for criminal impersonation. The convicts were prosecuted by the Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on separate one-count charge of impersonation, to which they pleaded guilty.
