Bandits have killed nine people, including three infants in Zankoro, Kaduna State, on Monday. They kidnapped 11 people and injured six others in Dan Kungi, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna. Chairman, Birnin Gwari Emirates Progressives Union (BEPU), Salisu Haruna, said bandits have carried out a series of killings and kidnappings in the area and on the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna and Birnin Gwari-Funtua highways. A pharmacist in Wisconsin has now been arrested after he deliberately destroyed 500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Police said Steven Brandenburg who worked at the Aurora Medical Center, told investigators that ‘he believed that Covid-19 vaccine was not safe for people and could harm them and change their DNA.’ However, an investigation into the incident found the man intentionally removed 57 vials of Moderna’s vaccine from a refrigerator overnight, forcing them to be destroyed. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, (NERC) has approved over 50 per cent increase in electricity tariff effective January 1, 2021. The tariff hike regime is expected to be implemented by the 11 operating electricity Distribution Companies, (DisCos). The increase in tariff comes two months after the Commission okayed the implementation of the much-opposed hike on Nigerians in November 2020.
