The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), says it will meet with the Federal and Kaduna state governments on the plight of students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanization who have been in captivity since March 11. Abia Government says it has begun investigation “to unravel the source and nature” of the suspected explosive devices found in Union Primary School, Afaraukwu Umuahia. The Commissioner for Information, Chief Okiyi Kalu, stated this in a statement issued in Umuahia on Thursday. According to Kalu, government has started working with relevant security agencies in the state concerning the development. The Police Command in Akwa Ibom has arrested one David Ubong, one of the inmates set free when suspected hoodlums attacked a correctional centre in Owerri. A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon, in Uyo on Friday, said that Ubong confessed to have escaped from the Owerri correctional centre on April 5. Some herders are lured into crime due to ignorance and poverty, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Secretary-General Othman Ngelzarma said yesterday. He said some of the herders were impoverished due to the stealing of their cattle. Insecurity across Nigeria heightened on Thursday when gunmen continued their reign of terror on Wednesday with attacks in Oyo, Ondo, Kwara and Rivers states. The hoodlums abducted 11 people, including a traditional ruler and a council chairman, in separate incidents. They also burnt 15 houses and injured two policemen and a farmer. The inability of candidates to create their profiles on Thursday forced the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to put registration for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) on hold. The exercise was expected to commence on 8th April to Saturday, 15th May, 2021. However, on Thursday, most banks were not able to generate the ePin (forms) for candidates.
