At least two persons were killed when gas exploded within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday morning. According to Daily Trust, the explosion occurred around 11:am at the Marcque event centre within the Presidential Library. It was gathered that technicians were topping up gas into an air conditioner before it exploded. Governor Ben Ayade, governor of Cross River, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service in Kano, Comptroller S.P Umar today May 19, 2021 handed over a money laundering suspect, Abubakar Sale to the Head of Kano Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mualledi Farouq Dogondaji, for further investigation and possible prosecution. The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) President Ayuba Wabba announced the suspension of the five-day warning strike on the second day. Wabba explained that the decision followed the Federal Government intervention. Over $700 million cash looted from Nigeria was returned to the country in the last four years, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami says. He said the stolen funds were returned by the United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK), Bailiwick of Jersey, Switzerland and Ireland. The Senate has called on the Federal Government and the relevant Security Agencies to ensure that the perpetrators responsible for dismantling rail lines across the country are charged with economic sabotage, as well as dealt maximum punishment without option of fine. Nigerian governors have agreed to grant autonomy to the Legislature and the Judiciary. They have also okayed the removal of fuel subsidy. They however, gave two conditions to smoothen the implementation of the decisions. These are: immediate termination of the ongoing strike by judicial workers and the disbandment of the Presidential Implementation Committee on the Autonomy of State Legislature and Judiciary.
