The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Saturday dusted up its plan to launch a single currency for member nations. The union agreed on a new road map to launch Eco in 2027, six years away. The previous plan was truncated by the coronavirus pandemic. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened to embark on another strike over the deliberate refusal of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr Ahmed Idris, to pay the salaries and remittance of check-off dues of over 1,000 staff for 13 months. The World Health Organization on Saturday officially announced the end of Guinea’s second Ebola outbreak which was declared on February 14. “I have the honour of declaring the end of Ebola” in Guinea, WHO official Alfred Ki-Zerbo said at a ceremony in the southeastern Nzerekore region where the disease surfaced at the end of January.
