Brazil legend Pele has been released from hospital after undergoing surgery for a colon tumour. The 80-year-old had the operation at Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo on 4 September. 26 inmates condemned to death in Ondo state have been pardoned by the state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. The governor granted the pardon on Friday to commemorate the 61st anniversary of Nigeria’s independence. Also pardoned by the state governor were 18 other convicts who were serving various sentences across correctional facilities in the state. Governor Akeredolu urged residents of the state to accept the freed prisoners back into society, while charging them to be of good conduct and behaviour. President Muhammadu Buhari has lifted the ban on social media platform, Twitter, conditionally. The President said this during a nationwide broadcast to mark Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary on Friday in Abuja. Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun has assented to the bill prohibiting open grazing in the state. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 convicted Alade Oluwasegun Kolawole and Tosin Kunle Kehinde on separate one count charge of fraudulent impersonation brought against them by the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
